Get8 Sports joins long list of sports organizations working to improve treatment of officials
Indiana-based sports marketing consultancy Get8 Sports has partnered with Officially Human, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the treatment and recognition of sports officials at all levels.
“As a long-time licensed official in Indiana for baseball and basketball, I’m passionate about officiating and its value for athletes to be able to participate in sports,” said Get8 Sports founder Josh Rattray. “Get8 Sports applauds Officially Human’s efforts to support the most underrated aspect of fair competition, and we look forward to supporting officials in every way possible.” 
Founded in 2019, Officially Human is a grassroots effort aimed at “humanizing” sports officials and addressing the alarming rate at which they leave the profession. According to a 2022 study, approximately 50,000 high school officials hung up their whistle due to poor treatment from coaches, fans and administrators. The Sports Innovation Institute reports between 70-80% of officials don’t last beyond three years.
“We are excited about the opportunity to partner with Josh and Get8Sports to share our mission with the great fans of Indiana basketball,” said Brenda Hilton, CEO/Founder of Officially Human. “We look forward to watching Get8’s events grow and being a part of it.”
As part of this partnership, Get8 Sports will promote Officially Human’s comprehensive programming, beginning with a new marquee high school basketball event in Indianapolis in December. Programming includes:
- Elevate Respect: Initiatives designed to foster a culture of respect and appreciation for officials.
- PA Reads, Billboard Reads and PSAs: Officially Human’s content will run in arena and on the air during Get8 Sports events.
- Promotional Materials For Fans and Officials: Materials designed to educate and inform fans of the cause will be distributed at Get8 Sports events.
